Human Development

Theories WebQuest

Introduction

This project is designed for students to gain a better understanding of child development theorists.  It explores child development theories while creating a game that’s appropriate for children.

Learners

Webquest is designed for students enrolled in Harrisburg’s human development class.  Prior to webquest, students will be introduced to child development theorists, such as Erik Erickson, Jean Piaget, Sigmund Freud, etc.

Human Development Standard

  1. After researching material, sketch and/or create a game that helps promote your area of expertise (development).

  1. Once sketch is complete, Mrs. Kern will check progress and give suggestions where needed.

  1. Using all of your newly gained knowledge from your team of specialists on child development theories, write directions to be used with game.

Directions should include:

    1. Name of game
    2. Purpose of game (What developmental concepts are going to be gained by using game?  What theories did you use in creating game?)
    3. Directions on how to play game

  1. Once game is designed and directions complete, students will inform the remainder of the class on their game.

7.  After oral presentation/demonstration, students will individually type a reflection

on knowledge gained from webquest.  A few questions to aid in your discussion -  What did you learn from the webquest?  Do you believe in the theorists that you researched?  Why or why not?

Conclusion                                                                                              This webquest puts human development theories into a “real world” context that one will be able to apply into their own life and into making an age-appropriate game.
